Domestic Violence Suspect Sets Fire to Ex-Wife’s Apartment in Spain, 11 Rescued

A Moroccan set fire to the apartment where his ex-wife and their three children, as well as four nephews, live in Lorca (Murcia). The fire engulfed the neighboring apartment where a couple and their four children live. They were all rescued in extremis by the firefighters and are safe and sound.
The man, around 45 years old, caused a fire in the apartment located on the third floor of the building where his ex-wife and the seven minors live, said Acid Boufera, a neighbor, to Diario de León, indicating that the Moroccan "always came home drunk" and subjected his wife to domestic violence, to the point where he was the subject of a restraining order that he did not respect. The police were looking for him for these acts, he specifies.
The incident occurred on Friday around 3:30 in the morning. The occupants of the two third-floor apartments noticed the smoke and tried to jump from the balcony where belongings were piled up, but the fire had already engulfed the entire landing. They were all rescued by the firefighters who quickly arrived on the scene. All the minors are safe and sound, even though they had been "very scared," adds Boufera.
For the moment, the social services have offered them temporary housing in a shelter. Boufera and his wife fear that the Moroccan may repeat the act. National police officers, accompanied by the Moroccan’s ex-wife, went to the apartment that was completely burned down.
