Domestic Violence Video Sparks Outrage in Casablanca as Gendarmerie Rejects Complaint

Deeply shocked by its content, Internet users have circulated on the social network Facebook the video of a woman victim of domestic violence, in an attempt to alert the Royal Gendarmerie services to the seriousness of the act.
In this video, the victim, who lives in the province of Mediouna, on the outskirts of Casablanca, reported her "savage" assault by her own husband, following a question about the reasons for his delay.
The victim’s husband, who had refused to answer her question about the reasons for his prolonged absence from the home, violently struck her, causing injuries to her face and head. Unfortunately, the complaint filed by the woman with the Royal Gendarmerie services was rejected for unexplained reasons.
In reaction to this video, Internet users have called for the intervention of the authorities concerned, particularly the police and the Ministry of Family and Solidarity, especially the latter institution which is supposed to defend women’s rights and protect them against all types of violence.
