Domestic Homicide in Saint-Étienne: Woman Fatally Stabbed, Toddler Witnesses Tragedy

In Saint-Étienne, a 33-year-old North African man stabbed his wife several times in front of their 2-year-old child. The victim did not survive her injuries.
The incident took place in the afternoon on Sunday, reports AFP. "This family man, unknown to the justice system, called the firefighters around 3:00 PM after stabbing his 32-year-old wife twice, who died, hit in the heart," said André Merle, deputy prosecutor of the Republic of Saint-Étienne.
Shortly afterwards, the police arrested the alleged murderer in the couple’s apartment, located near the Saint-Étienne courthouse. He received stitches for the knife wound he had apparently inflicted on himself in the neck area. After his arrest, he was placed in custody at the central police station in Saint-Étienne. As for the 2-year-old child, who witnessed the scene, he was entrusted to an uncle of the family.
For now, the Loire departmental security is conducting an investigation to establish the circumstances and motive of the alleged murderer.
