Dismembered Body of Missing Woman Found in Paris Park, Police Investigate

The dismembered body of a woman was found on Monday in the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris (19th arrondissement). Of Maghrebi origin, the victim lived in Seine-Saint-Denis and had been missing for more than a week.

Part of the victim’s body was found in a garbage bag in a corner of the Buttes-Chaumont park. Investigators from the criminal brigade were able to identify the victim thanks to her fingerprints. It is a woman of Maghrebi origin, aged 46, domiciled in Seine-Saint-Denis and reported missing since February 6, reports Le Parisien.

Her disappearance had even been reported to the investigators of the brigade for the repression of delinquency against persons (BRDP), after the alert given by her husband at the police station in her town. "Nothing in the environment of this couple suggests that they are associated with any criminal activity," says a source close to the case. Investigators will now focus their investigations on the victim’s environment in an attempt to discover the causes and alleged perpetrators of the woman’s death.

The victim’s pelvis was discovered on Monday by park maintenance workers. Searches and excavations were organized on Tuesday in and around the park to find the rest of the body. This is how the victim’s hands and head were found on a railway line, located at the east entrance of the garden. An analysis of the fingerprints by the scientific police technicians made it possible to confirm that it was indeed the missing woman. An autopsy should be performed to determine the cause of death.
