Body of Missing French Woman Found After Suspect Confesses to Killing

Disappeared on January 25 near Alès in the Gard, Sihem Belouahmia was found dead in the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The lifeless body of the young woman was discovered after the confession of one of the two suspects placed in custody.

Sihem would have had a relationship for several months with one of the suspects, Mahfoud Hansali, 39, who is none other than the husband of one of her cousins. Sihem did not dare to reveal this relationship to her parents, even though the suspect and his cousin were about to separate. "He should have given up on this relationship. He was overwhelmed by this love affair, while he was in a process where he could no longer keep this situation secret," said a source close to the case to L’Indépendant.

According to the suspect’s statements, a dispute was the origin of the teenager’s death, who was in love with him. He would have strangled her while trying to silence her during the argument. Mahfoud H. explained to the investigators that he did not want this relationship with the young woman who is the cousin of his ex-partner. With these confessions, the investigators ruled out the hypothesis of kidnapping and sequestration on the background of a conflict between drug traffickers.
