Defense: The first "Made in Morocco" armored vehicles delivered to the FAR

This is a first that marks a turning point in the national defense industry. The Indian group Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has delivered the first batch of WhAP 8x8 armored vehicles, assembled directly on Moroccan soil in the new industrial unit in Berrechid.

This delivery concretizes the rapid ramp-up of the plant inaugurated last September by officials from both countries. The Indian manufacturer has hailed a major milestone, highlighting proven capabilities and successful local manufacturing.

This 20,000 square meter site, which is the first industrial defense establishment of an Indian private company in Africa, became operational several months ahead of the initial schedule. About a third of the components are already assembled on site, with a stated desire to gradually increase the local added value to guarantee strategic industrial autonomy for the Kingdom.

The vehicle at the heart of this partnership, the WhAP 8x8, is a modular amphibious armored vehicle co-developed by Indian military research. Designed to operate in difficult terrain, from desert areas to high altitudes, it offers high-level ballistic and mine protection.

Its versatility allows it to be available in several versions, from simple troop transport to command post, through the medical vehicle or the mortar carrier, while being able to be equipped with remote-controlled weapon stations of different calibers.
