Deadly Floods in Morocco: Bridges Collapse, Residents Evacuated After Torrential Rains

The residents of the province of Tata faced a difficult night due to torrential rains that caused major flooding. The General Directorate of Meteorology had previously issued a red alert, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind.
These exceptional rains led to the overflow of the Tata wadi, sweeping away a bus and causing the collapse of several bridges, including the Annahda bridge. The local authorities quickly set up rescue operations to evacuate the affected populations and assist the people in difficulty.
According to the latest information communicated by civil protection, seven people were rescued after being stranded on the bus swept away by the waters. Other travelers managed to reach dry land by swimming. The search operations continue to find any possible victims.
The floods also caused significant material damage, with houses damaged or destroyed, widespread water and power cuts. Schools in the province have been closed and made available to the affected people.
