Deadly Elevator Fire at Marrakech Convention Center Claims Two Lives

After the deadly fire at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, the competent authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact causes and any possible responsibilities.
On Thursday, a fire broke out in an elevator of the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech. The toll is two dead and three injured. Upon arrival, the firefighting teams quickly evacuated the building and secured the area. The authorities, led by the regional security chief, quickly arrived on the scene to oversee the rescue and firefighting operations. The emergency services transported the bodies to the morgue of the Marrakech regional hospital and took the injured to the emergency department of the hospital for medical care.
The incident occurred during the preparations for the fourth World Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, scheduled for February 18-20. The public prosecutor’s office has opened a judicial investigation to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the fire and identify any possible responsibilities.
