Dacia Maintains Diesel Options in Morocco, Diverging from European Strategy

While it has removed diesel from its catalog in France, Dacia continues to offer Duster and Jogger models with diesel engines in Morocco.
Diesel Jogger and Bigster have disappeared from Dacia’s range in France. This is not the case in Morocco where the Jogger and the new Duster are offered with diesel engines. While the Romanian manufacturer of the Renault group focuses on petrol and hybrid in Europe, it continues to offer diesel engines in Morocco, reports L’argus.
In Europe, Dacia offers the new Duster with the 1.2 TCe mild-hybrid 130 hp engine and the 1.6 Hybrid 140 hp. But in Morocco, the SUV is only available with a 1.5 Blue dCi four-cylinder 115 hp engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. The manufacturer forecasts average CO₂ emissions of 123 g/km, with the same amount for the Duster TCe 130 and 112 g/km for the Hybrid 140.
As for the Jogger, it is only offered as a mild-hybrid in France, but with a 100% petrol TCe 110 engine for 129 g/km and in Hybrid 140 with emissions limited to 105 g/km. In Morocco, however, the manufacturer sells the Jogger with a 102 hp dCi engine emitting an average of 112 g/km, and plans to offer it in diesel.
To comply with European regulations that impose a cap on average CO₂ emissions for brands, Renault’s Romanian firm is forced to switch to all-hybrid to avoid fines.
