Dacia and Renault Lead Morocco’s Car Market Despite Overall Sales Decline

New vehicle sales reached 64,025 units at the end of May, down 4.45% compared to the same period last year, according to statistics from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
In detail, the passenger car (PC) sector recorded a slight reduction of 2.73%, with 58,365 units sold, while the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment suffered a more significant drop of 19.20%, with 5,660 units sold.
According to AIVAM, the Dacia brand took the lead in the PC segment with a market share of 23.04%, equivalent to 13,448 units sold by the end of May 2023. Renault followed with a market share of 15.63% and 9,122 units sold, while Hyundai positioned itself in third place with 7,391 units and 12.66% market share.
In the LCV segment, Renault remains the leader with 1,220 units sold, i.e. a market share of 21.55%, closely followed by DFSK and FIAT, with 928 and 656 units sold respectively. In the high-end segment, Audi leads with 1,670 units sold (2.86% market share), followed by BMW and Mercedes. Porsche and Jaguar complete the list with 193 and 50 units sold respectively.
