Custody Granted to Grandparents of Child Orphaned in Valencia Murder Case

After a long battle, the parents of Imane Saadaoui, the young Moroccan woman killed by her husband in Valencia on November 1, have finally obtained custody of their grandson, who was placed in a children’s center after the tragedy.
The minor was only 14 months old at the time of the events and the Extremadura Council, noting the absence of direct parents in Spain to take care of him, ordered that he be placed in the Jardín del Sauce children’s center in Cáceres.
His maternal grandparents arrived in Spain in December, after obtaining a six-month visa from the Spanish embassy in Morocco. But they had to request an extension of the visa because the procedure to obtain custody of their grandson took longer than expected, reports El Periódico.
After eight months of administrative hassles, they finally obtained custody of the little boy, whom they now consider their "son". During all this time, they visited the minor twice a week, for two hours per visit.
Imane’s parents also want to bring their daughter’s body back to Casablanca, Morocco to bury her with dignity. They made this promise to Imane’s eldest daughter, from a previous marriage, who lives with them in Morocco. But Imane’s body is still being held for the needs of the investigation. Her husband, accused of the murder, is still in custody.
