Cuban Woman Faces $17,000 Fine for Undeclared Rolex Watches at Morocco Airport

A young Cuban woman was arrested by customs at the airport upon her arrival in Morocco for not declaring the three luxury watches she was carrying in her luggage. She expresses her indignation on social media and calls for help.
In a video on TikTok, Paula Pérez explained that upon her arrival in Morocco, she was subjected to customs control at the airport. Her luggage was scanned, revealing the presence of three Rolex luxury watches that she should have declared, reports Huffpost.
"Since the watches were not declared, the customs officers told me that they had to keep them and that I had to pay a fine of 16,000 euros," she said in the video, which has already recorded more than 33,000 views and more than 1,500 "likes" on TikTok.
According to Moroccan law, any traveler is required to declare a sum of more than 100,000 dirhams (about 9,200 euros) to customs. The Cuban tourist claimed not to be informed of this legal requirement in Morocco and that she had to declare her watches due to their high value.
Paula Pérez concluded her video by calling for help to get out of this situation. It is not known whether she was ultimately able to pay the fine set by the Moroccan customs and recover her Rolex watches and luggage, or if she is still stuck at the airport.
