Moroccan Woman Arrested at Valencia Airport with 42,000 Counterfeit Stamps Worth €98,000

The Civil Guard of Valencia arrested at the airport a 39-year-old woman from Casablanca, who was carrying in her suitcase more than 42,000 counterfeit stamps with a total value of around 98,000 euros.

The customs and tax administration agents at Valencia airport noted the nervous state of the woman who was waiting to retrieve her luggage after disembarking from a flight from Casablanca. The person concerned hastened to remove the identification label on her suitcase in order to avoid customs control, reports Las Provincias.

The agents asked the woman for her papers to verify her identity. Querying the database, they discover that the defendant has a long criminal record for fraud crimes. Her luggage scanned by customs revealed the presence of apparently counterfeit stamps. In total, 42,766 stamps, mostly from France, but also from Spain or the United Kingdom, were seized.

The total value of the seized stamps is estimated at 98,000 euros. The agents are awaiting the results of the analysis of the stamps to confirm whether they are counterfeit or not, before prosecuting the defendant for a crime of forgery.
