Floods in Valencia: Spain accepts Morocco’s aid

Following the devastating floods that hit the Valencia region in Spain, an international wave of solidarity is being organized. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior, in coordination with the Valencian authorities, has announced that it has accepted international aid.
Morocco has deployed a contingent of seventy rescuers and twenty-four trucks to participate in the debris clearance and evacuation operations. Portugal has also responded to the call by sending about twenty pumps, seven construction vehicles (excavators and backhoes) and two transport trucks, managed by the Portuguese National Command for Emergencies and Civil Protection.
France, for its part, is making qualified personnel and handling equipment available for the treatment of mud and debris. Paris has also chartered four super-heavy transport vehicles to transport the rubble to the treatment sites.
This international aid is part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, activated on November 8. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior is currently studying other assistance proposals from several European countries, in order to submit them to the Valencian authorities.
