Is Cristiano Ronaldo's hotel a refuge for victims of the earthquake in Morocco?

Some press articles claim that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has turned his luxury hotel in Marrakech into a refuge for victims of the violent earthquake that hit Morocco on September 8. These articles are false.

Marca is among the media that published information claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo has turned his luxury hotel in Marrakech into a refuge for earthquake victims. In an English article titled "Cristiano Ronaldo’s hotel on the outskirts of Marrakech serves as a refuge after the earthquake in Morocco," published on Saturday, the Spanish newspaper reports the words of a Spanish tourist, "who told a Spanish channel that she had spent the night outside, then managed to find a room in the morning in this hotel, the Pestana CR7" while the young woman in no way indicated that the star’s hotel has been transformed into a "refuge" for victims of the earthquake that occurred in the night from Friday in Morocco. "This is false information. All the customers we have right now have made a normal reservation," the establishment reacted to Libération.

According to the new provisional report published by the Moroccan Minister of the Interior, 2,862 people have died in the earthquake and 2,501 others have been injured. An earlier report released earlier on Monday put the death toll at 2,497 and the injured at 2,476. On the ground, rescuers, volunteers and members of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) are working to find survivors and extract the bodies of victims.
