COVID-19 Surge Prompts Strict Travel Checkpoints in Moroccan Cities Khénifra and M'rirt

The local authorities have tightened control measures at the entrances and exits of Khénifra and M’rirt. This measure follows a surge in Covid-19 cases in these two cities.

Checkpoints are now installed at the entrances and exits of Khénifra and M’rirt to control people wishing to go to these two municipalities. This means that the compliance of each passenger’s special travel authorization will be checked. Then, he will have to be questioned about the reason for his trip. The regularity of the papers of his vehicle and the proper wearing of a protective mask will also be checked.

Before the installation of these checkpoints, the local authorities had carried out awareness campaigns to warn against any relaxation or laxity in compliance with the preventive measures aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19 in the two municipalities.

The Provincial Coordination Post (PCP) in charge of managing the Covid-19 pandemic in Khénifra had prohibited any movement to and from the cities of Khénifra and M’rirt, except for people with a special travel authorization issued by the competent local authorities.
