Moroccan City Imposes Lockdown on Neighborhoods as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Certain neighborhoods of the city of Khenifra are subject to new restrictive measures regarding movements. These measures have been in effect since Thursday, September 23 at noon, in order to curb the wave of contamination and deaths observed in the city.
A large security device composed of agents and auxiliary authorities as well as elements of the National Security and the Auxiliary Forces has been deployed at the entrances and exits of the Assaka, Al Fath and Raouda neighborhoods to compel the residents to strictly comply with these measures, especially the one prohibiting movements to and from these places.
Only people with an exceptional travel permit issued by the local authorities will be allowed to move. And these permits will be issued for professional purposes, or for those who want to stock up on essential products, reports the MAP.
The authorities call on citizens to act on their words by scrupulously observing the announced precautionary and prevention measures. They remind that offenders of these rules will be subject to deterrent sanctions in accordance with the law in force.
