Morocco Locks Down Fqih Ben Salah Province as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Based on the new Covid-19 infection rates in the province of Fqih Ben Salah, the local authorities took restrictive measures on Friday. Travel to and from the province is only allowed for people with an exceptional certificate issued by the competent local authorities.
The province of Fqih Ben Salah recorded 61 new positive cases of Covid-19 and one new death on Friday, October 16. For a few days now, cases of contamination have been multiplying. Thus, in addition to the restrictions related to travel, it was also decided to close sports halls, game rooms, neighborhood stadiums and public parks. The capacity of public transport will be reduced to 50%, and emphasis will be placed on respecting the correct wearing of protective masks and physical distancing in public places and spaces.
The authorities have also decided that from 9 p.m., shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants must close their doors. The closing time for neighborhood markets is set at 4 p.m., as well as for hammams and beauty salons. The easing of these measures will only take place when the epidemiological situation in the region improves. The local authorities are counting on the patriotic spirit of all citizens to respect these measures which have been taken for the protection and health safety of all.
