COVID-19 Mortality Highest Among Adults Over 40, Study Finds

The age groups most affected by the coronavirus are people over 51 years of age, as well as those aged between 40 and 65 years. Indeed, these age groups show the highest percentages of deaths due to the pandemic.
Among the most vulnerable age groups to COVID-19, we find the over 51s, who account for 32.6% of cases, the under 5s, 1.1%, while the 5 to 15 age group recorded no cases. 9.1% of cases for 15 to 25 year olds, and the 40 to 65 age group accounts for 36.9% of cases, said Hafid Zahri, communication advisor to the Ministry of Health.
Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Fès-Meknès, Marrakech-Safi, Tanger-Tétouan-El Hoceima, Souss-Massa, the Oriental, Beni Mellal-Khénifra, Drâa-Tafilalet and Guelmin-Oud Noun are the regions affected by confirmed cases of the virus in Morocco.
Continuing with the statistics on COVID-19, Hafid Zahri specified that the number of deaths is 6 against 7 cases of recovery. The latest death case is a 65-year-old Moroccan from Meknes who suffered from chronic diseases. The communication advisor to the Ministry of Health also reported the recovery of a 69-year-old man living in Casablanca.
Morocco recorded 51% of imported cases against 49% of local cases. Hafid Zahri said that 86% of infected cases have a stable health condition, while the health condition of 14% of cases is considered unstable. The total number of monitored cases since the first case is 3,109, of which 669 have completed their monitoring period, while 2,341 are still under medical control.
