Controversy Surrounds Saad Lamjarred’s Potential Mawazine Festival Performance Amid Boycott Calls

The participation of Saad Lamjarred in the 19th edition of the Mawazine Festival, scheduled from June 21 to 29, seems compromised. Sources close to the organizers have revealed the failure of negotiations between the two parties.
According to these sources cited by Aljarida24, "Lem3allem" would have demanded to perform on the Souissi stage, usually reserved for foreign artists, due to his great popularity. The festival management would have refused this request, arguing that this space is dedicated to international artists.

This imbroglio is part of a tense context around the artist. Indeed, a boycott campaign has been launched by activists on social networks, calling for his ban from performing in Morocco. This campaign is based on the fact that Lamjarred’s trial for rape is not yet over.
During his last press conference in Morocco, Lamjarred had expressed his wish to participate in Mawazine, describing it as the "best option" for him.
