Controversial Student Dance Performance Sparks Debate at Moroccan University

A controversy has arisen around a dance performance by a student on the occasion of the artistic event organized by the students of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences in Mohammedia. This took place as part of the celebration of the Green March and Independence Day.
Poetry, singing, "chaabi" dance and theater were on the menu of this student event. The event was proceeding as planned without major incident. However, the performance of a young student quickly created a lively controversy. She danced to a "chaabi" song like a "cheikha".
A few moments later, a video showing the student’s performance was widely circulated on social media, much to the surprise of the student club.
The comments are unleashed on the web. Ultra-conservative preachers express their outrage. They consider the student’s dance as a satanic activity.
