Controversial Moroccan Singer Faces Backlash Ahead of Egypt Concert

Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is preparing to reconnect with his Egyptian audience on April 14, for a concert that is already shaping up to be controversial.
Since the announcement of his arrival, Lamjarred is facing calls for a boycott from some Egyptians. They denounce the rape and sexual assault charges against the singer and refuse to see him perform on their soil.
This is not the first time that Lamjarred has faced such a situation in Egypt. In 2020, a concert planned in Cairo had to be canceled at the last minute following similar mobilization on social networks.
Despite the controversies, Lamjarred intends to continue his tour. After concerts in Dubai and Beirut, he will therefore go to Egypt on April 14, barring force majeure.
Before going to Egypt, Lamjarred spent last weekend in Morocco to celebrate Eid el-Fitr with his family and friends. He had been absent for several months due to the legal problems he is facing in France.
