Controversial Moroccan Plastic Surgeon’s Appeal Trial Set to Begin in Casablanca

The appeal trial of plastic surgeon Hassan Tazi and his co-defendants will open next week before the Casablanca Court of Appeal.

The famous surgeon had been sentenced on May 3 by the court of first instance in Casablanca to 3 years in prison, including two years firm and one with probation. Detained at the Oukacha prison since his arrest two years ago, Dr. Hassan Tazi was released after this sentence, recalls Al3omk.

Tazi was acquitted of "human trafficking" and "participation and contribution to the crime of human trafficking" by the court. His brother, Abderazzak Tazi, a co-defendant in this case, was acquitted of fraud, but was sentenced to five years in prison. Mounia Benchekroun, Tazi’s wife, was sentenced to four years in prison.

Employees of the Al Shifa clinic in Casablanca, and co-defendants in the case, also received custodial sentences. This is the case of Fatima H. and Saida A., sentenced to four years in prison, and Amina F., a nurse at the clinic, sentenced to three years in prison.

Likewise, Zeinab B., a social worker who acted as an intermediary between the partners and the patients of the Al Shifa clinic, was sentenced to five years in prison. As for Fatima Zahra K., an employee in the billing department of the said clinic, and prosecuted at large, she was sentenced to one year in prison with probation.
