Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma to Serve Full Prison Term Until 2025 in Cyberbullying Case

Sentenced to one year in prison in the "Hamza Mon Bb" case, Moroccan artist Dounia Batma should regain her freedom in January 2025, after her request for royal pardon does not seem to have been successful.
Accused of electronic defamation and disclosure on social networks of personal information targeting public figures via the Hamza Mon Bb account, Dounia Batma was arrested in Casablanca and sentenced to one year in prison by the Marrakech court.
The Moroccan singer began serving her sentence last January after the Court of Cassation rejected the request of her lawyers who were asking for the annulment of the judgment handed down by the Court of Appeal, which had added four months to the initial sentence imposed on her.
Dounia Batma requested a royal pardon on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, but this initiative does not seem to have been successful. Unless she benefits from a royal pardon or a reduced sentence, she should therefore serve the full sentence in the Loudaya prison in Marrakech.
