Comedy Star's Alleged Assault on Child Fan Sparks Outrage

A family man has filed a complaint against comedian Nawell Madani, accusing her of assaulting his 6-year-old child who simply wanted to "take a photo with her". An investigation for violence against a minor under 15 years of age has been opened.

The incident occurred on Monday around 10:30 pm in Paris, on the Champs-Élysées. Bebethan and his four sons aged 6 to 13 had just had dinner in a restaurant when they crossed paths with Nabil, a neighborhood resident who knows them through social media. The four brothers have a TikTok account with 10,000 subscribers. As they were in the middle of a conversation, they saw Nawell Madani passing by. Nabil, a former extra on one of the actress’s film shoots, politely greeted her when he recognized her. Djulian, six years old, was curious to know the identity of the woman. Nabil explained to him that she was a famous actress. The child asked if he could go take a photo with her.

The three older brothers approached the comedian. But the reception was icy, says one of the older brothers. "She got angry at us, then she said: ’Stay behind’," he said. Djulian didn’t know anything. The 6-year-old in turn approached the actress, wanting in particular to pet the dog whose head was sticking out of Nawell Madani’s bag. She gave him a violent kick to the chest. "She turns around and gives him a huge kick to the chest," witness Nabil, still in shock, testifies. The kid flies and crashes to the ground. While he was on the ground, I heard her say to the child: ’Now you’re going to respect me’," he assures.

Little Djulian, "always smiling and joyful" according to his father, is shocked. He gets up crying, rushing into his father’s arms. The child complains of pain. "I was so furious and I told her she had no right to hit a 6-year-old child," explains Bebethan. In the aftermath, Nawell takes out her phone and films Nabil who was trying to confront her about her actions. A video that Nabil has passed on to Le Parisien. "I think she realized her mistake and started insulting us, accusing the children of wanting to steal from her and calling them thugs and riffraff," reports Nabil, still outraged.

Little Djulian was briefly taken care of at the Necker hospital. His father filed a complaint against the comedian, accusing her of violently assaulting his child. An investigation has been opened by the public prosecutor’s office for "violence against a minor under 15 years of age". Nawell Madani presented herself at the police station in the 8th arrondissement that evening. She explained "having been approached by children, having been afraid of a theft and having struck a child," the public prosecutor’s office said.
