Comedian Gad El Maleh Welcomes Morocco-Israel Diplomatic Ties
The Canadian-Moroccan comedian Gad El Maleh is delighted with the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. According to him, the resumption of relations between the two countries is a "very good thing".
"To tell you the truth, when they announced the agreements between Israel and Morocco, of course I was delighted, I was very happy, but I was not surprised, I was not completely stunned by what was happening," he said during his appearance on the new show "The Big Mouths Middle East", broadcast on the Israeli channel I24.
"This is what I often try to explain to Sephardic Jews in France, who are either Algerians or Tunisians. We really don’t have the same history. We are communities that have absolutely not the same relationship with the kings who have succeeded each other - Mohammed V, Hassan II and now Mohammed VI - and we don’t have the same history of peoples, of brotherhood, of exchange," he continued.
Focusing on the economic aspect of the restoration of relations between the two countries, Gad El Maleh said that "there are projects, especially in Tech, between Moroccans and Israelis. Many young Moroccans and Israelis are getting together to create things together." "I am part of this tradition of peace, of salam, of shalom," concluded the native of Casablanca.
