Cold Wave Hits Morocco: Government Mobilizes 1 Billion Dirhams for Health Services

Means have been mobilized to deal with the effects of the cold wave and facilitate the unblocking of mountainous localities, the government says.
During oral questions in parliament, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Aït Taleb, reassured that the government has always anticipated this cyclical phenomenon by taking proactive measures, reports Balarmane, specifying that this year, his department has released nearly one billion dirhams in the "Riaya" operation.
This operation aims to meet the needs of the targeted populations, by making proximity health services available and multiplying the activities of mobile units, while taking care of the cases identified by the medical campaigns and the reference hospitals, as well as the emergency cases.
Specifically, it involves making equipment and logistics available to the actors at the 648 health centers concerned, carrying out 3,742 visits by mobile units and organizing 171 specialized medical caravans, it is specified.
To this end, a total of 2,337 health professionals and various medical equipment and supplies will be mobilized. Similarly, an envelope of 6 MDH will be released as an exceptional budget by the central services of the ministry (in addition to the annual provincial budget), plus 1.7 MDH as an exceptional budget allocated by the central services of the ministry to cover the fuel and maintenance costs of the mobile units.
Local authorities, elected bodies, the private sector, the associative fabric and organizations working in the field of health, are invited to work for the success of the operation.
