Morocco’s Health System Prepared for Potential Omicron Surge, Minister Says

Morocco currently has a health system capable of dealing with the Omicron variant, in the event of an epidemiological setback.
This is what Health Minister Khaled Ait Taleb declared to parliament, explaining that the country’s health system had learned the lessons of the pandemic and was now able to adapt to the management of the epidemiological situation.
In the event of an epidemiological resurgence, the health system is prepared to cope with the new variant, whether in terms of hospital capacity, intensive care, or necessary equipment, the minister assured.
However, he reported a "certain ambiguity around the new variant." "We do not know its medium-term effects," he admitted.
On this occasion, the minister stressed the need to maintain a high level of surveillance and vigilance, and to closely monitor the epidemiological situation in Europe and the rest of the world. Morocco is not immune to a new setback, especially after the emergence of a fifth wave in Europe, he said.
