Cocaine Scandal Rocks Moroccan Police: Officers Accused of Swapping Seized Drugs

The Oujda police headquarters has just denied rumors concerning the diversion by two members of the anti-drug brigade in Nador of a batch of cocaine, intended for destruction. The suspects would have substituted lime for the cocaine.
During an operation to destroy a large batch of cocaine, recently seized from a drug trafficker, the representative of the public prosecutor’s office would have realized that the products were not burning. Sent to the laboratory for analysis, the substance turned out to be lime, claims the newspaper Al Massae.
And the newspaper supports that an investigation ordered by the Attorney General has shed light on the case. Thus, two agents of the anti-drug brigade, accomplices of a major drug trafficker, had replaced the batch with another substance. In the meantime, the cocaine would have been found at the drug trafficker’s home.
In a statement, the Oujda police headquarters wishes to provide clarification. It would rather be a similar case where 8 individuals, including 2 employees of a public administration, had been convicted for the same offense.
