Cocaine and arms trafficking: a Frenchman targeted by Interpol arrested in Morocco
The police services arrested yesterday, Thursday, a 45-year-old French national. Targeted by an international arrest warrant, the man is suspected of belonging to a drug and arms trafficking network in his country of origin.
The operation took place following checks carried out by the national security services. The identity of the quadragenarian could be formally confirmed during a check, thanks to a detection in the databases of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

The pursuit of this defendant stems from a vast judicial procedure initiated in France. The authorities specify that he "was the subject of an international search notice on the basis of a red notice". This alert, triggered by the central office in Paris, aims at his "alleged involvement in a case of criminal gang formation and cocaine trafficking, in addition to the possession of weapons and ammunition without authorization".

Pending his transfer, the suspect has been taken into custody. In accordance with the directives of the competent public prosecutor’s office, he is currently "subject to the handover procedures". In parallel, the Interpol branch in Rabat has officially informed its Parisian counterpart of this capture, thus paving the way for "the initiation of the extradition procedure".
