OM Coach Explains Amine Harit’s Extended Absence from Squad

The Italian coach of Olympique de Marseille (OM) Roberto De Zerbi has finally explained the reasons for the long absence of Moroccan international Amine Harit.
Amine Harit is no longer in the plans of coach Roberto De Zerbi, who has not counted on him since the match against Paris Saint-Germain in October, when he received a red card in the 20th minute, which led to his absence due to suspension and then the injury he suffered in the calf, keeping him away from the pitch in recent weeks, and he should leave the Vélodrome stadium.
"Harit is an important player, like Kondogbia. He has been absent for almost four months. It’s not his fault. During this time, we have found important balances. So it takes more time for him to play. But he is an important player," Roberto De Zerbi justified in a pre-match press conference against Saint-Etienne.
The Phocaean coach continues: "Before talking about individuals, we have to talk about the collective. We have important goals. Everyone must accept the choices. It’s the field that decides, no one plays by default. So far, there have been no problems in the group. I prefer to have a lot of competition than to have fewer choices."
Amine joined OM in 2021 from Schalke 04. Two years later, the French club had decided to buy his contract in 2023 for 5 million euros, with a contract extending until the end of the 2026/27 season. The 27-year-old player has scored 10 goals and provided 19 assists in 103 matches. If he does not fully recover from his injury, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for him to continue his adventure at Orange Vélodrome. He would then be forced to find a new club. The future seems more uncertain for the Atlas Lion.
