Club Med to Open $100 Million Luxury Resort in Essaouira, Morocco by 2024

A new premium resort is planned in Essaouira. This new project with an investment of one billion dirhams was announced on Monday by Club Med in collaboration with the Pan-African investment fund Grit Real Estate Income Group.
The Club Med in Essaouira is expected to be operational in 2024, according to a press release. This building will have 350 rooms and will have a Club Med Exclusive Collection area. The Club will be fully integrated into its environment, available year-round for active families and couples. It will offer tourists quality experiences with natural, historical, cultural heritage, leisure and a large area of water sports, the same source said.
This project is part of the continuation of the close and historical ties between Club Med and the Kingdom of Morocco since 1963, the year the Trident brand was first established in Al Hoceima. A presence strengthened three years later by the installation of the first "hard" resort in Agadir after the earthquake. Other Club Med actions in the Kingdom and several initiatives are to be noted. Still in its vision of promoting the socio-cultural authenticity of the region, Club Med plans the second stage of a Marrakech-Essaouira circuit, for its international clientele.
The project was announced by Mr. Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of Club Med, in the presence of Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to King Mohammed VI, at the Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie. Several other authorities were also present at this ceremony, including Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and the Social Economy and Karim Kassi Lahlou, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region.
