Citroën Ami Electric Car Price Rises, Still Competitive in License-Free Market

Thursday 3 February 2022, by Prince

Citroën has just increased, at the beginning of this year, the price of its 100% electric Ami model, produced in Morocco and accessible without a license.

The price of Citroën’s electric Ami car has gone from €7,390 to €7,790 since the beginning of this year, an increase of more than €400. The 2-seater car remains very competitive on the market, even if delivery times have been extended in recent months, reports Frandroid, specifying that the vehicle, ordered online, is delivered after about 10 weeks.

The Ami model, manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Kenitra, also remains very accessible in the range of cars without a license, despite this increase, the prices of this category of cars often exceeding €12,000.

In 2021, the first Ami cars had been withdrawn from the market in order to correct the waterproofing problem of the vehicle as well as some teething problems (robustness of the welding points, braking system, door opening and closing system, replacement of the windshield wiper motor, etc.) In total, 4,300 vehicles were affected by this "control and modernization campaign", which had lengthened the delivery times.
