Citroën Recalls Moroccan-Made Ami Electric Cars to Fix Multiple Defects
Saturday 13 February 2021, by
Citroën has launched a "modernization campaign" for its Ami quadricycle made in Morocco, in order to correct its various defects. Nearly 200 Amis are already being transported to its expertise centers.
The defects are of various kinds: waterproofing, door closing, windshield wiper motor, electrical system and battery, underbody, braking system and handbrake sensor, details L’Argus. Contrary to the standard pattern for these recall campaigns, "the interventions will be entrusted to three specialized centers - two in France, one in Germany - rather than the brand’s network," the same source points out. This modernization campaign will allow Citroën to make its model more reliable so that it leaves the Kenitra plant without these defects.
Vehicles already delivered are affected. Citroën has already sent out the first emails and letters to customers at the beginning of this year. "To start as soon as possible, nearly 200 Amis from our customers already present in our network have been directly collected last week and are arriving in our expertise centers for modernization. The first calls and the first appointments to collect the Amis are underway," the French manufacturer says in a post on its Facebook account, adding that the dedicated "e-Ami" application (iOS and Android) allows customers to be accompanied in this process.
In another message published on Thursday, February 11, Citroën announces that two executives of the Chevron brand, including CEO Vincent Cobée, have visited. "The entire company is mobilized to allow you to live the best experience on board your Ami as soon as possible. As a sign of the commitment of all, Vincent Cobée, CEO of Citroën and Jean-Christophe Quémard, Director of Customer Satisfaction of the Group, went to the Hordain site to check the system in place and ensure the quality level of the modernized Amis. They noted the good start of the modernization campaign. "We won’t give up!" writes the French manufacturer.
