Chinese manufacturer Hongsheng Huayuan has just added Morocco to its commercial map. China’s leading supplier of electric pylons has announced the arrival of its products on the Moroccan market, a first for which it has not yet disclosed either the client or the project.
A Chinese manufacturer of fabrics and airbags has confirmed its establishment in Tangier. The subsidiary was created at the request of its clients, a sign that Morocco’s automotive industry is directly attracting suppliers of vehicle manufacturers and equipment makers already established in the kingdom.
Taiwanese industrial group Froch is building a 90,000 m² factory in Morocco, primarily intended for the European market. The quotas and customs duties imposed on exports from Taiwan influenced this choice. Production is due to begin in early 2027.
Chinese group Boway Alloy confirms the transfer to Nador of an industrial project initially planned for Ningbo. The electronic materials factory, intended in particular for the European and American markets, represents an investment of approximately $150 million.
The European Union is investing €20 million in Morocco’s digital transformation, particularly in 5G, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. But its financing excludes equipment from suppliers it classifies as high-risk, a category that notably targets Huawei and ZTE.
Chinese company Sanlian Forging is outlining its European setup: a factory in Tangier to cut transportation time from 45 days to 3 or 4 days, and a sales presence in Frankfurt to move closer to its customers directly.
The White House has just classified Morocco among around forty countries that could serve as conduits for Chinese exports to the United States. The kingdom even appears, alongside Kenya, among the only “African peripheral hubs” identified by Washington.
The European Union has just maintained a hefty tariff on certain technical fabrics shipped from Morocco. The particularity: the 30.7% duty applies even when these products are declared to be of Moroccan origin.
Moroccan automotive exports declined in 2025. The World Bank attributes this to less dynamic European demand, but also to the growing competition from Chinese electric vehicles in the kingdom’s main markets.
Moroccan nationals obtained 300,104 French visas in 2025, representing a 6.1% increase compared to the previous year. Morocco becomes the second largest beneficiary country, behind China.

Designed to accelerate Morocco’s industrialization, Tanger Med has largely succeeded in its mission. But the massive arrival of Chinese investors around the port and in the automotive sector is now worrying the European Union, which fears a new gateway to its market.
