Chelsea’s Ziyech Faces Uncertain Future Under Tuchel as Playing Time Dwindles

Hakim Ziyech could leave Chelsea earlier than expected, given the treatment he has received since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as head coach. Highly sought after upon his arrival by Frank Lampard, the Atlas Lion seems to have fallen out of favor with the current Chelsea coach, who, apart from a few minutes spent on the field during two matches, has relegated him to the bench.
In a recent press conference, Thomas Tuchel had addressed the issue of the Moroccan player’s absence from the field, admitting his share of responsibility in this situation. He says he is aware of the player’s potential. But he confesses to having preferred other players to Hakim Ziyech. "Every player will have his chance given the challenge facing the club."
He also mentions the player’s ability to adapt to the realities of the English league. "For me, it’s clear that he has to adapt to this kind of football, to this kind of league. He comes from the Dutch league, from a very strong Ajax team, but they were the benchmark in the championship and it’s not the same intensity and competition as here," explained Thomas Tuchel.
In a few weeks, the Atlas Lion has gone from being an indispensable player to one whose profile lacks dynamism and endurance. A rather uncomfortable situation that could push the player to leave as early as next summer. Italy seems to be the destination that is opening up to him, as several Serie A clubs are closely following the situation of the 27-year-old playmaker. Juventus Turin and AC Milan are at the top of the list, not to mention AS Roma.
