Chelsea’s Tuchel Praises Ziyech, Hints at Increased Playing Time
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged that Hakim Ziyech deserved a starting spot for the match played on Saturday against Leicester City in the Premier League (3-0).
Tuchel regrets not having let Ziyech play from the start of the match against Leicester City. He admitted to being impressed by the Moroccan international’s contribution to Christian Pulisic’s goal (71st). Ziyech came on in the second half and had a good game at the King Power Stadium. "I’m also very happy for Hakim, who deserved to start, that he was involved again with an assist," Tuchel said on the club’s official website.
A certain rumor had announced the departure of the 28-year-old striker from the English club. Several clubs like Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona or AC Milan have expressed interest in Ziyech. But for now, Tuchel does not intend to part with the Moroccan, considering him an important part of the system.
"Right now, here at Cobham, there is no reflection on his future. We are not thinking about a potential change, an exchange or anything else in the winter," he specified. And to add: "Hakim did not come to my office to express such a wish, so for now, he is a full member of the team."
Chelsea host Juventus at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday in the Champions League group stage matches. Ziyech hopes to be in the starting lineup for this match.
