Chelsea Secures Ajax Star Hakim Ziyech in £40 Million Deal

Chelsea announced on Sunday, February 23, 2020, that it has reached an agreement with Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Hakim Ziyech for the signing of a five-year contract.
On February 13, the Amsterdam club had officially announced Ziyech’s departure, effective at the end of the current season on July 1, for an amount of 45 million euros.
On the official website of the London club, Hakim Ziyech shared his first impressions. "I am delighted and proud to have signed for such a huge club as Chelsea. I look forward to next season with great anticipation and I hope we can achieve great things."
A month ago, the giant London club already wanted to secure the services of the 26-year-old Moroccan prodigy, but the negotiations could not be completed in time. For her part, Chelsea’s technical director, Marina Granovskaia, is delighted to have won over the Atlas Lion. According to the club official, Ziyech was an important target of the transfer window. "He has been one of the most daring players in Europe in recent years. We saw that in the two matches against Ajax in the Champions League."
With six goals and 13 assists in 19 Dutch league matches, the Moroccan midfielder has been an important cog in the performance of his club, Ajax, which hopes to win the Eredivisie again this season.
