Chariot Oil & Gas Completes Drilling at Morocco’s Anchois Gas Field

The British exploration company Chariot Oil & Gas has announced the end of drilling operations in the Anchois gas field off Larache. A "successful" step, according to management.
At the end of the drilling operations, the Anchois-1 well is in a condition allowing for potential use in the future development of the field, said Adonis Pouroulis, interim Chief Executive Officer of Chariot.
Similarly, he specified, the Anchois-2 well, drilled just before the exploitation of the Anchois-1 well and having reached its evaluation and exploration objectives with more than 100 m of net production, has already been safely and efficiently suspended to be possibly completed as a production well as part of the future development of the deposit.
These operations are part of the Lixus Offshore exploration permit granted in May 2019 and held 75% by Chariot and 25% by the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM).
Furthermore, the energy group explained that much of the data recovered from the multiple gas discoveries in the well is currently being sent to a laboratory for detailed analysis. This data also includes the analyses of a complete underground formation testing program, which recovered twelve gas samples from seven reservoirs.
For her part, the Managing Director of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), Amina Benkhadra, "congratulated the Chariot and ONHYM teams for the success of the Anchois drilling operations." "I also want to thank the Moroccan authorities for their support and assistance in the efficient execution of the drilling operations despite the restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. We look forward to working with Chariot to advance the Anchois gas development as quickly as possible," she said.
For his part, Pouroulis said the company’s ambition is "to bring the Anchois gas development online as quickly as possible, in order to fuel Morocco’s economic growth, but also to provide short-term cash flow to the company".
