Ceuta and Melilla Plan Gradual Border Reopening with Morocco, Pending Health Protocols

The autonomous governments of Ceuta and Melilla are considering setting up a new protocol, with guarantees, which will allow the gradual reopening of the borders with Morocco.
The political leaders of the two enclaves met for the fourth time on Wednesday, before submitting the protocol to the Ministry of the Interior.
The spokeswoman for the Ceuta government, Salvadora Mateos, however, specified, without giving more details, that the reopening of the borders will essentially depend on the epidemiological situation in Morocco.
"The reopening of the borders, which will take place according to a protocol agreed with the authorities of Melilla, will primarily concern Moroccans in a regular situation blocked since March 13," added the spokeswoman, stressing that things will no longer be as before.
