Ceuta and Melilla Break with Spain, Align with Morocco for Ramadan Start

A small originality for the cities of Ceuta and Melilla which, for the start of the month of Ramadan, did not follow the example of the other cities of the Iberian peninsula.
While Spain began Ramadan this Monday, May 6, this will not be the case for the cities of Melilla and Ceuta which will only start it tomorrow, at the same time as Morocco. The reason is simple: the Muslim representatives of Spain are in the habit of following Saudi Arabia, while the two autonomous cities generally follow Morocco.
Thus, the Islamic Commission of Spain and the Union of Islamic Communities of Ceuta, very close to Morocco, announced to all Muslims in Melilla and Ceuta the start of Ramadan for Tuesday, May 7. They therefore followed the date set by Morocco and previously by astronomical calculations.
As for each religious holiday, the representatives of the Muslims were keen to wish Ramadan Moubarak to the Muslims of the two enclaves, of Spain but also to all Muslims.
If Ramadan 1440 begins at the same time as Morocco, this will not necessarily be the case for Eid al-Fitr, the feast commemorating the end of the month of fasting. This year, it should be celebrated around June 5.
