Ceuta on Alert: Fears of New Migrant Surge at Spanish-Moroccan Border

The leader of the Vox party in Ceuta, Juan Sergio Redondo, denounces the inaction of the Spanish government which "has done nothing" since the migration crisis of last May to prevent new massive entries of migrants at the borders of the autonomous city with Morocco.
Several rumors have announced in recent days that new migrant assaults could occur at the borders of Ceuta during the Christmas holidays. Faced with this situation, the Vox party in Ceuta recalls the urgent need to strengthen the border "in the face of the growing hybrid war" between Morocco and Spain.

In September, Morocco had prevented hundreds of migrants from entering the autonomous city. At the time, the far-right formation had already deplored the non-reinforcement of the border perimeter, after the invasion of migrants in May. "Nothing is being done to prevent the perimeter from being invaded again by thousands of migrants trying to storm our borders," denounces Juan Sergio Redondo.

The leader of the far-right formation in Ceuta warns that Morocco is indeed a reliable partner, as the Spanish government claims, but notes that "there is no change, neither in its belligerent attitude towards Spain, nor in its annexationist intentions". This is why Redondo insists on strengthening the borders. "Not protecting our borders is to succumb and yield to the Moroccan strategy," he said.

The Vox party demands immediate action against Morocco. But he says he expects nothing from the Spanish government, which cares more about its interests than the protection of Ceuta and the entire nation. For its part, Vox, he says, will continue to alert to the need to defend the integrity of the borders and the Spanish identity of Ceuta and Melilla.
