Casablanca Taxi Drivers Demand COVID-19 Testing After Unknowingly Transporting Infected Patient

Taxi drivers in Casablanca are demanding screening for having inadvertently driven a covid-19 patient to the hospital without the required precautions. In unison, they all went to the nearest police station to voice their grievance.
It all started with the dissemination on social networks of a video that went viral. It shows a woman who would be infected with the new coronavirus, getting into a taxi to go to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance to arrive, reports Hespress. This video caused panic in the ranks of taxi drivers in the economic capital.
Panicked, these taxi drivers, unaware of the identity of the colleague who transported the patient, went to the police station in the Ben M’sik neighborhood in Casablanca to demand their screening in order to ensure their serological status.
For many of them, the government should have prohibited them from working during this confinement period in order to spare them from a sudden death. According to Mustapha El Kihel, national secretary of the Federation of Road Transport Professionals, some have chosen to respect the confinement despite the financial difficulties that result from it.
