Casablanca Restaurants Reopen with 8 PM Curfew After Months-Long Closure

The government has authorized, this Wednesday, January 13, restaurants in the large metropolis to reopen again until 8 p.m., after several months of closure.
This decision comes after a meeting of the Casablanca prefecture with professionals in the food trades. "The authorities have just confirmed to us the possibility of reopening today," says Kacem Jdouri Jilali, president of the Atlas Association of Restaurateurs in the Casablanca-Settat region.
On Tuesday, January 12, a government statement extending the restrictive measures and the curfew for one more week ordered restaurateurs to close at 8 p.m. This meeting with the local authorities now allows restaurateurs to restart their activities, which have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. 80% of companies in the sector are currently threatened with bankruptcy, it is specified.
