Casablanca Residents Frustrated by Unfinished Construction and City Neglect
The construction sites undertaken in the metropolis give an unfinished taste to the inhabitants of Casablanca: unfinished work, potholes everywhere. The city is experiencing a turmoil that seriously disrupts daily life, without however alerting the authorities.
This situation has elicited mixed reactions from Casablancans who are wondering about the role of the Wali and the elected officials. L’Économiste returns to the comments of some Casablancans who are dismayed by the almost complicit silence of the authorities.
"An unfinished taste reigns everywhere, the finish is lacking. Do the authorities not live in the same city as us? Don’t they see what we see? Holes everywhere, remains of construction sites," fumes an angry Casablancan.
Frustrated by the state of the city, which has been transformed into an open-air construction site, another citizen rails against the Wali of the region and the Court of Auditors. The taxpayer’s money is going up in smoke for construction sites that do not improve the daily life of the citizens, he laments.
L’Économiste reports the accusatory remarks of a Casablancan who does not hesitate to accuse the elected officials of selfishness. "Like everything that is done in Morocco, nothing is finished either on time or with the expected finish, the elected officials are in their electoral war and have nothing to do with the citizens," he fumes.
