In addition to this conviction, the assets of the caïd of the "Laymoune" administrative annex of the Hay Hassani district of Casablanca will be confiscated, reports Barlamane. This includes a bank account of 16 million dirhams and two plots of land.
The Court of Appeal also confirmed the judgments rendered at first instance against the co-defendants in this case, the same source specifies. Among them, a bailiff already sentenced to four years in prison and the owner of a well drilling company. The latter has already served two years in prison for a judgment rendered at first instance.
In 2018, several corruption complaints had been filed against the caïd of Laymoune and other individuals. They were referred to the Casablanca Court of Appeal, after months of investigations supervised by the National Judicial Police Division. The main defendants were placed in pre-trial detention at the Oukacha prison. Conversely, five other people were prosecuted while at liberty after paying a bail of 10,000 dirhams each.
