Casablanca Mayor Considers Hammam Closures Amid Water Crisis Concerns

Will Nabila Rmili, the mayor of Casablanca, finally carry out her threats by closing the hammams due to excessive water consumption?
In her various interventions, the official had already encouraged a thoughtful and reasoned use of water, particularly for watering gardens and other spaces, suggesting the use of wastewater for this purpose.
Recently, rumors on social media have mentioned a possible closure of hammams in Casablanca due to this crisis. However, a source from the municipality has denied these rumors.
The municipal council has not considered closing these public baths, as they play an important role in the fight against unemployment and contribute to the local economy.
The same source revealed that the council proposes to the hammam managers to use well water to help manage the crisis.
In parallel, the municipality, in collaboration with the authorities, plans to monitor car wash stations, to encourage them to drastically reduce the consumption of drinking water.
