Casablanca Faces Waste Crisis as Sanitation Workers Strike Before Eid al-Adha

Employees of the Derichebourg and Averda companies, in charge of waste management in the city of Casablanca, will observe a strike movement, on the eve of Eid al-Adha, more precisely, before the second half of August 2019. Certain grievances justify this decision of the workers.
The cleaning sector is on strike in Casablanca. The employees of the two delegated companies, in charge of waste collection, are observing a work stoppage, during the Eid Al-Adha period.
This strike, announced for August 8 and 9, 2019, is renewable and likely to be extended, as long as dialogue is not engaged to study the workers’ claims and for the effective payment to them of salaries and allowances.
The competent authorities are invited to work for the resolution of the crisis, in order to avoid uncomfortable situations for citizens, a few days before the holiday.
