Casablanca Cracks Down on Unauthorized Parking Attendants

The reign of the "yellow vests" is over? In Casablanca, the city hall has decided to crack down on the wild parking attendants that plague the streets of the economic capital.
An administrative note, addressed to the presidents of the districts, orders the freezing of parking attendant authorizations for cars, motorcycles and other vehicles on public roads.
This radical decision is part of a broader movement to fight against the illegal occupation of public space. Other cities in the Kingdom, such as Tangier, have already taken similar measures to stem this phenomenon. The authorities denounce "illegal behavior" and "harmful practices" on the part of these self-proclaimed attendants, who impose their services on motorists in exchange for a few dirhams.
To recall, demanding payment to park on public roads is a criminal offense punishable by prosecution. It is a case of fraud, usurpation of function and attempted extortion of funds, pure and simple.
