Casablanca Cracks Down: Thousands of Illegal Structures Face Demolition

After the awareness-raising phase, the time has come for repression. In total, more than 10,000 establishments whose files are being processed will be targeted by the imminent demolition of equipment or terraces occupying the public domain, reports L’Economiste.
Those who think they are above the law unfortunately find themselves in the sights of the administrative police. These include notables such as local elected officials, landlords.... "The idea is to demonstrate that this is not an ephemeral campaign, but actions that are part of a continuum," said a reliable source. This source specifies that repeat offenders risk losing their authorization.
The actions of the administrative police are also directed towards advertising. In this sense, a control operation of the authorizations started on Monday, November 25. At the end of this census, the anarchic or non-regulatory billboards will be dismantled and removed.
In addition to the anarchic occupation of the public domain, hygiene is another area of intervention of the administrative police. In this regard, butchers are targeted by a similar campaign. "In fact, the police officers, who are multi-skilled, optimize their rounds by intervening at the same time on the 3 areas of competence: public domain, urban planning and hygiene," it is reported.
